Academic Job Search Mentors

Searching for your first job can be a long and arduous task. It raises anxieties and questions for even the best-prepared individual. PFF has arranged for Faculty Mentors who can answer questions you may have concerning your job search. To provide this "real time" support, we have asked faculty members with broad experience in mentoring students into academic positions to be available to you. Be assured that, although they may not be in your specific discipline, these mentors will often be able to answer your questions and, if not, to provide directions on how to get the answers. Feel free to email a mentor whenever you have a question or issue or just want to talk about your academic job search.

Two faculty mentors will be available each semester of the 2011/12 year. In Fall 2011 Dr. Deanne Shuman (dshuman@odu.edu) , Professor of Dental Hygiene, and Dr. Gayle Dodge (gdodge@odu.edu) , Professor of Physics will be our mentors. In spring 2012 Dr. John Ritz, Professor of STEM Education and Professional Studies , and Dr. David Earnest, Professor of Political Science and International Studies will be available.

For additional information about our mentors, click on their names below.

Click on their email address above to send either Dr. Dodge or Dr. Shuman an email with any question you have about your job search.
