Lieutenant Christopher Buie has been a member of the Old Dominion University Police Department since appointed as a Police Officer in 2013. During his tenue, he has held positions in Operations and Administration as an Officer, Detective, OIC and Sergeant. In addition, Christopher has at times taken upon critical interim roles within the agency such as clery compliance coordinator, threat team coordinator, and accreditation manager. He was instrumental in guiding the agency through CALEA which is the (Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies) in 2019 and subsequently the departments accreditation through IACLEA (which is the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators in 2020, at that time, these honors mark the ODU Police Department as the twenty-second (22) university law enforcement agency in the United States to obtain dual accreditation.

Currently, Lieutenant Buie oversees Accreditation, Records, Property & Evidence, and is the Interim Clery Compliance Coordinator. Additionally, he was elected, by participating Virginia law enforcement agencies, as the secretary for the Virginia Association of CALEA Accreditation Professionals. Lieutenant Buie holds an Associate of Applied Science degree in Administration of Justice, a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and is currently working on his graduate degree in Criminal Law and Corporate/Healthcare Compliance from Arizona State University's Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law.
