  • Debbie Bauman graduated from the Dental Assisting Program at Old Dominion University in 1978, the Dental Hygiene Program in 1980 and the Master’s Degree Program in 1982. She has been teaching dental assistants and dental hygienists ever since. She currently serves as Assistant Dean of the College of Health Sciences formally as Chair of the School of Dental Hygiene, which received full accreditation in 2007. She has authored the textbook chapter on “Persons with Diabetes Mellitus” in Dental Hygiene Theory and Practice by Darby and Walsh, coauthored the text Case Studies in Dental Hygiene,1st edition and numerous journal articles. Ms. Bauman traveled on two dental mission trips to Leon, Nicaragua with the Norfolk –based international organization, Physicians For Peace, where she was involved in starting a dental assistant education program at the University of Leon.
