- Housing & Residence Life (H&RL) is making an effort in bring awareness to the hunger crisis locally and globally through our campus tradition Haunted Halls, a haunted house experience.
Halloween always presents a time for children dress up as their favorite superhero or the traditional ghost or goblin traveling from door to door in hopes of finding the best candy in town. However, more horrifying than any zombie mask or slasher costume is the fact that 925 million people do not have enough to eat and 17 million American children go to bed hungry every night. Housing & Residence Life (H&RL) is making an effort in bring awareness to the hunger crisis locally and globally through our campus tradition Haunted Halls, a haunted house experience. There is saying that "there's nothing like a good scare," but we contend that the only thing better is a scare that feeds.
During Haunted Halls, residents are granted admission by donating non-perishable items such as cereal, canned vegetables, soup and pasta. Although H&RL staff members get a kick out of scarring residents, this year, our focus is on promoting the awareness of hunger in our communities by supporting the Food Bank of Southeastern Virginia with the donations received.
Please join us on October 26th and 27th from 8pm-12am in the Powhatan Community Room for the 6th Annual Housing & Residence Life Haunted Halls, "A Twisted Fairytale".
