27th Annual Harold Protsman Classical Period Piano Competition

The F. Ludwig Diehn School of Music of Old Dominion University will hold its 27th annual Harold Protsman Classical Period Piano Competition Saturday, March 22, 2014. Preliminaries will begin at 8:30 a.m. For this 27th year we are pleased to announce that pianist and teacher, Lambert Orkis, will judge the final competition at 2:30 pm. All events will be held in the F. Ludwig Diehn Center for the Fine and Performing Arts, 1339 49th St., Norfolk VA 23529.

In 2007, the Old Dominion University Classical Period Piano Competition was renamed in honor of Professor Emeritus Harold Protsman in recognition of his many years of dedication, professionalism and service to both the competition and the F. Ludwig Diehn School of Music of Old Dominion University.

Lambert Orkis will give a master class for selected finalists in Chandler Recital Hall at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 23. During the class, Professor Orkis will hear and advise selected student performers.

David Hardy will give a cello master class in the Choral Rehearsal Room at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 23. During the class, Professor Hardy will hear and advise selected student performers.

The F. Ludwig Diehn Concert Series will present Lambert Orkis, piano and fortepiano, and David Hardy, cello in recital at 8 p.m. Monday, March 24 in Chandler Recital Hall, Diehn Fine and Performing Arts Center. To read more about the Orkis-Hardy Duo, click here.
