ODU's Edgerton to Discuss His 'Mad Men' Book on 'With Good Reason' April 12
Gary Edgerton professor and chair of the communication and theatre arts department at Old Dominion University, will be featured on an upcoming episode of the public radio show "With Good Reason," discussing the magic of television.
He will appear on the Thursday, April 12, edition of the show, airing at 1:30 p.m. on WHRV-FM, 89.5.
Edgerton will speak about the book he published about the HBO smash hit Mad Men, titled "Mad Men: Dream Come True TV."
"Every few years a new television program comes along to capture and express the zeitgeist. 'Mad Men' is now that show," Edgerton writes in the foreword to his book.
Edgerton said "Mad Men" is a zeitgeist show for our time because its characters are an earlier, confused and conflicted version of ourselves, trying to make the best of a future unfolding at breakneck speed.
Kathryn O'Sullivan of Northern Virginia Community College, who wrote and produced her own television series, a Western-themed soap opera that airs online, will also be a guest on the show.
The show can be heard around the state on public radio stations, and in markets ranging from Atlanta to Alaska. Broadcast times are posted at http://www.withgoodreasonradio.org/when-to-listen/.
Audio files of the full program and its companion news feature will be posted the week of the show to the ODU website. A permanent link can be found here: http://withgoodreasonradio.org/2012/04/a-western-on-the-web/.
