VDBA to Offer ‘How to Grow Your Sales’ Seminar March 14 at ODU
March 06, 2013
The Virginia Department of Business Assistance (VDBA) will present a seminar on "How to Grow Your Sales" at Old Dominion University on Thursday, March 14, in Webb Center.
The free, morning-long event, which will feature participants from government agencies and businesses from around Hampton Roads, is focused on helping businesses increase sales in state, federal and private-sector markets.
Bob Fenning, ODU's vice president for administration and finance, will make opening remarks at the event, which will feature exhibitors from the VDBA, the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, the Marine Resources Commission, local and regional procurement departments and representatives of ODU's College of Business and Public Administration, which has introduced a for-credit, graduate certificate in public-sector procurement.
The commonwealth of Virginia and local governments purchase nearly $13 billion annually in goods and services. The federal government purchases much more in Virginia. The seminar will allow participants to explore some of the opportunities that are available, through a series of targeted breakout sessions, as well as visit with exhibitors who will be displaying their programs throughout Webb Center.
Breakout sessions include "Selling to the Federal Government"; "Selling to the State"; "Exporting for Small Business"; "NASA Licensing Opportunities"; and a panel with public-sector procurement officers.
