University Dance Theatre Opens Season Sept. 4-5 with ‘Rituals’

University Dance Theatre will present "Rituals," its first concert of the 2013-14 season at 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 4-5, at the University Theatre.

The opening concert includes original choreography and performances by dance faculty members Amanda Kinzer, Marilyn Marloff, Megan Thompson and Rachel Germond.

Exciting and evocative dances presented include Marloff's "Lumen Sensibus," in which the mundane becomes sacred and redemptive in dealing with inevitable loss, and Kinzer's premier of her multimedia exploration of witch hunts and inquisitions.

Tickets are $14 for general admission and $12 for students. They can be purchased online at oduartstix.com or by calling 683-5305 during regular box office hours.

University Dance Theatre is the performing company of the dance program of the Department of Communication and Theatre Arts. Each year the company presents two or three formal concerts and several informal concerts featuring the choreography of the program's faculty, guest artists and selected students.
