ODU Invencia Piano Duo Nominated for VEER Magazine Award
January 23, 2014
Internationally renowned Old Dominion University musicians Andrey Kasparov and Oksana Lutsyshyn, who comprise the Invencia Piano Duo, have been nominated for a Veer Magazine local music award.
A Hampton Roads publication, Veer is a freely distributed magazine that features arts, culture, entertainment, food and drink.
The Invencia Piano Duo was nominated in the "Best Classical" category along with four other groups, including the Norfolk Chamber Consort, which is co-directed by Kasparov and Lutsyshyn and performs at ODU's Chandler Recital Hall.
Kasparov said Veer cited the Invencia Piano Duo's "Schmitt - Complete Original Works for Piano Duet and Duo" that was released in October 2012, and features the works of composer Florent Schmitt (1870-1958) and the Norfolk Chamber Consort's "exceptional repertoire from ODU music professors," in making the nominations.
Voting for the 3rd Annual Veer Magazine Local Music Awards will be enabled through Saturday, Jan. 25. The "Best Classical" category is No. 22 in the list of awards.
