The number of credit hours necessary to complete these requirements may vary, depending upon the academic discipline selected by the student. The following list of courses can serve as a guide for academic planning. **The Bachelor of Arts and the International Business major in the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degrees require completion of the intermediate level (201-202) of a foreign language, even with the earned associate degree. A minimum of 120 credit hours is required to graduate from all bachelor degree programs (see specific degrees for exact minimum credit hours required, as some may require more).

The Technology requirement may be satisfied by a major course.
An additional "N" course (in a discipline different from the one chosen to satisfy the eight-hour requirement) or a K or T course at the 300/400 level may be used to satisfy the Technology Perspective of this requirement.
In some cases, an approved course in the major is used to satisfy the Technology requirement. Consult the University Catalog or the curriculum sheet for the major to determine the requirement for a specific program.
Associate Degrees-Transfer Articulation Agreements
Old Dominion University has established articulation agreements with all of the VCCS institutions which, in accordance with the State Policy on Transfer, considers the lower division general education requirements in all bachelors degree programs satisfied for students who earn an approved Associate in Arts, an Associate in Science, or an Associates in Arts and Sciences degree at any Virginia Community College or Richard Bland College. Some degree programs require specific General Education courses to meet departmental and/or college requirements that are not automatically satisfied by the articulation agreement. Students must earn a C (2.0) or better in the specific General Education courses to receive credit for the specific General Education requirements.
In addition, associates degrees in General Studies programs at the following community colleges have been approved by the State Committee on Transfer for recognition under the conditions of the State Policy on Transfer:

Students who transfer to ODU from a Virginia community college or Richard Bland College without earning an associate's degree must have all credits evaluated on a course-by-course basis by the Office of Admissions as specified in the appropriate edition of the ODU Transfer Guide for Virginiacommunity colleges and Richard Bland College. Foreign Language Requirement
Students obtaining a transfer associate degree (A.A., A.A. & S., or A.S.) are waived of the lower division general education foreign language requirement even though foreign language is not a requirement of most associate degree programs. Additional foreign language is required for students pursuing a Bachelor's of Arts or International Business (see the foreign language equivalency above for more details).
Students not pursuing an associate degree may also be waived of the foreign language lower division general education requirement if:
Student earned high school diploma prior to December 31, 1985,
Third level (junior) level of one spoken foreign language was successfully completed in high school (requires submission of the high school transcript to the Office of Admission for verification, or
Second level (sophomore) level of two different spoken foreign languages were successfully completed in high school.
Associate in Applied Science Degrees
In order to facilitate the transfer of students who successfully complete an Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree through the Virginia Community College System and plan to attend OldDominion University, the following provisions have been established:
A student who receives an A.A.S. degree in specific articulated programs (see curricula) at a Virginia Community College, with a grade of C or better in all courses, and who completes a minimum of 37 specified general education credits (see below, 3.b) while obtaining the minimum cumulative grade point average required of all transfer students (or provisional admission if the program requires a higher grade point average) will be eligible to apply for transfer to Old Dominion University.
Virginia Community College A.A.S. degree graduates may expect the following:
To have all of the approved courses in the degree program accepted and recorded byOld Dominion University provided the student received grades of C (2.0) or better, as identified in the articulated agreement.
To be admitted to Old Dominion University with junior status, as provided in each specific articulation agreement. This includes being considered as satisfying the lower-division general education requirements (see below, 3.b) of Old Dominion University, except those required specifically by a school and/or department for a given major.
To complete the remaining credits at Old Dominion University in course work prescribed by the University.
To be treated on an equal basis with native students with regard to award and distribution of financial aid, campus housing, selection of courses, and other student services.
Old Dominion University will accept full credit toward the completion of the baccalaureate degree(s) identified in the selected articulated programs, including curriculum-related credits (occupational/technical), provided the following conditions are met:
The student has graduated from the Virginia Community College System with an A.A.S. degree in an articulated program with Old Dominion University (see list of articulated programs);
The student has satisfactorily completed the specified 37 general education credits from the following areas: English composition (6 credits); humanities/fine arts (6 credits); social/behavioral sciences (9 credits); natural sciences (8 credits); mathematics (6 credits); and wellness (2 credits); and
The student has a cumulative grade point average that meets the minimum required of all students transferring to Old Dominion University.
