Virtual Desktop Environments

Old Dominion University has implemented two virtual desktop environments focused on providing anytime, anywhere access to university software and resources for students, faculty, and staff.

These virtual environments provide provide safe and agile computing outside the traditional computer lab(s). The systems can be accessed using university desktops or personally owned devices - including tablets and smartphone devices.

The Virtual Computer Lab is a remote access system that allows you to reserve a "virtual computer" with the desired operating system and applications for your coursework, and remotely access it via the internet.



Monarch Virtual Desktop Environment provides access to workstation that have the same configuration as those in the standard ITS computer labs as well as access to specialized labs.
