Online MPA Program Now Available Through ODU Distance Learning

ODU Distance Learning Announces Online MPA Program

Now Accepting Applications for Spring 2014

The online Master of Public Administration program at ODU prepares working professionals for enhanced careers in public service or as academics in higher education.  Now students who want to earn an MPA can do so from anywhere in the world.  They choose the pace they need, part-time or full-time, as they navigate work or life challenges.

The online MPA develops individuals' competencies in public sector management, public policy analysis, and public decision-making processes. Our graduates hold positions as city managers, program planners, policy analysts, and managers in federal, state, and local agencies, as well as non-profit agencies. A number of our graduates have gone on to study in Ph.D. programs.

The Master of Public Administration program is designed to enhance students' knowledge and competencies in five context areas:

Public management processes, including public budgeting and personnel systems;

Organizational design processes and behavior;

Political, legal, and ethical concepts and issues of public administration;

Quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques; and

Policy analysis and program evaluation.

Also available online through elective courses within this program is a certificate program in Public Procurement and Contract Management.

The ODU MPA is accredited by the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA), an international association of public affairs schools at universities in the United States and abroad, "The Global Standard in Public Service Education".
