Readmission from Suspension

Apply for Readmission

Readmission Semester: Due Date:
Fall Semester 2nd Friday in August
Spring Semester 3rd Friday in December*
Summer Semester 2nd Friday in April
Application for Readmission
*Registration for Spring begins in November of each year. Waiting too long to reapply may result in a lack of course availability for the spring semester.

A student may apply for readmission the semester following the completion of suspension period. All readmitted students are required to attend the Academic Continuance Experience for Success (ACES) workshop before the beginning of the semester of readmission.

Credits earned at another accredited institution at a grade level of C (2.00) or better while an undergraduate student was under suspension from ODU will be accepted upon receipt of official transcript following readmission.

If a student readmitted after suspension fails to obtain a semester GPA of 2.0 in any semester before achieving a cumulative GPA of a least 2.0, the student will be placed on a SECOND suspension. Students who are placed on academic suspension for a second time are no longer eligible to attend Old Dominion University.

Students readmitted to ODU do not automatically qualify for financial aid. All students who are suspended should contact their financial aid counseling team to discuss their options.

Students who are readmitted for a particular semester and choose not to enroll in that semester are required to resubmit their application for readmission.

Academic Continuance Experience for Success (ACES)

All students readmitted from Suspension are required to complete the ACES workshop.

ACES is conducted via the internet on Blackboard and must be completed prior to the first day of classes starting for the semester of readmission. Students who fail to complete ACES will be dropped from all classes if they are registered and their readmission will be revoked for the semester. Students in this situation will be eligible to reapply for the next semester, but must begin the readmission process again.

Students will be registered into the ACES course by the Continuance Office. Emails will be sent to all students notifying them of registration in the ACES module. Please be sure to check ODU email for notification.

ACES is not a pre-requisite for registration for courses at ODU. Students may only participate in ACES after they register for coursework.
