ODU's Shaomin Li Discusses Parking Research on NPR

A study by Shaomin Li, Old Dominion University Eminent Scholar and professor of international business, was featured on National Public Radio. Reporter Shankar Vedantam, who does a segment for NPR called “Hidden Brain” on social science research, interviewed Li about a study the ODU professor did on parking tendencies and their correlation with economic growth. Atty. Gen. Herring Pledges High Priority for Bay Cleanup

Virginia Atty. Gen. Mark Herring, speaking in the Blue Planet Forum: Exploring the Bay and Beyond environmental lecture series at Old Dominion University Wednesday, August 27, defended his alliance with the Obama Administration and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to promote a cleaner Chesapeake Bay. Life in Hampton Roads Survey featured in Media Reports and HearSay Radio Program

Old Dominion University released last week its annual Life in Hampton Roads survey that takes a deep look at social and economic indicators of quality of life in the region. This week, Jesse Richman and Tancy Vandecar-Burdin, director and associate director of the research center, respectively, discussed the survey’s results on “HearSay,” a popular public affairs radio show that is broadcast on WHRV FM 89.5. The one-hour call-in show aired Tuesday, Aug. 26, from noon to 1 p.m. ( More )

ODU Entsminger Fellows Lead the Charge for Entrepreneurship

When Old Dominion University launched its entrepreneurial initiative this year, sparked by an $11 million donation by alumnus Mark Strome and his wife Tammy, the idea was for a culture to develop campus-wide to nurture business entrepreneurs. In order for that entrepreneurial ecosystem to flourish, it needed leaders across campus. Thanks to a donation by alumnus Lee Entsminger, six faculty members — representing four different ODU colleges — are ready to lead the charge for entrepreneurship. ( More )

Department of Procurement Services Keeps on Winning

The awards just keep coming for Old Dominion University’s Department of Procurement Services. The National Procurement Institute (NPI) has announced that the ODU department is a winner of the 2014 Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award. ( More )
