Research

The Darden College of Education has many and varied research interests and projects. This website is dedicated to showcasing some of those research projects, highlighting possible research opportunities, offering access to information to assist in the proposal process and information on workshop opportunities in a variety of areas.

Melissa Hallman provides grant writing support to the faculty in the Darden College of Education. Melissa comes to ODU from the non-profit sector. She has a Bachelor's in Political Science and a Master's in Public Administration. She joined the Office of Research in April 2010 and has experience writing federal, state and foundation grants.

Grant services provided include: preliminary analysis of grant solicitations and guidelines ; development of outlines to clarify proposal requirements; development of templates and checklists; specific guidance in writing and editing support; drafting and obtaining letters of support; review of proposal to assure required components and guidelines are addressed; coordination of grant teams and related resources. She also serves as a liaison between the College of Education and the Office of Research in identifying funding opportunities and networking for collaborative research projects.
