Program Highlights

  • The Darden College of Education at Old Dominion University is ranked 65th among graduate schools of education in the nation in U.S. World and News Report's 2014 edition of Best Graduate Schools.
  • The Center for Educational Partnerships was awarded a $26 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education, the largest grant ever awarded to the Darden College of Education and one of the largest ever awarded to Old Dominion University. In 2012, the College had $33.7 million in funded research.
  • Old Dominion University is the only university in the state of Virginia implementing TLE TeachLiveTM(Teaching in Mixed-Reality Environments). This innovative technology simulates the teaching environment using computer-generated avatars that are as similar to real students as possible. The TLE TeachLiveTM Lab provides pre-service teacher candidates the opportunity to learn new skills and to craft their practice without placing "real" students at risk during the learning process.
