Since 1996, the Women's Institute for Leadership Development at Old Dominion University has focused on developing the leadership skills of women students. The institute incorporates theory and practice and is divided into seven modules.
Dedicated to building community among members and refining essential leadership skills, the program provides students with the opportunity to network with other student leaders and professional women.
- To explore women's style of leadership and to support and empower women students as they develop their leadership skills.
- To enhance leadership skills and intellectual development and to create an environment which values and nurtures women leaders.
- To create a network and a community among women leaders during and after college experience.
- To become an integral part of leadership development for women students at Old Dominion University.

Diversity has evolved into a word that has been politicized and a concept that corporations, organizations, and societal institutions often use as their "PC" cloak. Achieving culturally competent skills is often a checkmark that we use to define our status as an open minded person, a global citizen and effective leader. However, before one can lead, impact change and create systems of inclusion, one must be aware of how their first organization, the family, impacted and shaped who they are and how they lead. Participants will embark upon an interactive and reflective personal journey that identifies frameworks that defined their personal identity and emerging leadership style.

The faces list began operation in the Spring of 1997, a pragmatic response to the needs of a small but growing number of women in media. Initiated after a series of discussions that took place on the margins of European media arts and media culture events, via email, and in the dimly lit corners of bars begged the question "Where are the women?" This constant question, and the desire to find out what women were doing with new media defined a gap in the existing structures and networks. Parallel to these discussions, the Face Settings project began to create informal settings that invited women to come to the table for a good meal and to discuss their work. It was the start to what would become an international network of women in media: artists, programmers, theorists, designers, curators, activists & djs, along with with an assortment of other digital workers.

Center for Women in Government and Civil Society
The Center for Women and Government & Civil Society (CWIGCS) is within the Graduate School of Public Affairs and Policy at the University at Albany, State University of New York. The center is responsible for conducting and disseminating research on women's issues, working to identify and eliminate barriers to women's employment equity, and developing public policy leadership for women and youth. The center also acts as a resource for leaders in business and government, public employees, researchers, scholars, and members of advocacy and professional organizations. Coalition Against Trafficking in Women
The Coalition Against Trafficking in Women (CATW) is a non-governmental organization that promotes women's human rights by working internationally to combat sexual exploitation in all its forms. Founded in 1988, CATW was the first international non-governmental organization to focus on human trafficking, especially sex trafficking of women and girls. It is a fundamental human right to be free of sexual exploitation in all its forms. Women and girls have the right to sexual integrity and autonomy.

Equal Rights Advocates (ERA)
Equal Rights Advocates has led the legal fight for women's equality for almost 30 years. Since 1974, ERA's mission has been to protect and secure equal rights and economic opportunities for women and girls through litigation and advocacy. ERA works to eradicate illegal discriminatory practices that deny women advancement opportunities, equal compensation, and access to certain occupations. ERA demands that employers provide women with a work environment that is free of sexual harassment and in compliance with health and safety laws. ERA enforces family and medical leave and pregnancy protection laws, and is active in the effort to establish paid family and medical leave.
Equality Now was founded in 1992 to work for the protection and promotion of the human rights of women around the world. Working with national human rights organizations and individual activists, Equality Now documents violence and discrimination against women and mobilizes international action to support their efforts to stop these human rights abuses. Through its Women's Action Network of concerned groups and individuals around the world, Equality Now distributes information about human rights violations, takes action to protest these violations and brings public attention to human rights violations against women.

Face to Face: The Face of Women's Rights
Face to Face is a non-governmental and not-for-profit organization formed to help build awareness of and support for services that will allow women and girls everywhere to exercise their basic human rights. Global Women's Strike
The Global Women's Strike, a grassroots movement against the globalization of mass murder and exploitation, is an extension of the caring work we do. In some countries, we have been holding weekly protests since "America's new war" began. As carers we are pointing the movement in the direction that can stop all genocide: we demand an end to obscene military spending. These massive resources must be put into caring, feeding, healing, learning, and educating. This is the way to end war and with it the glorification of uncaring macho militarism, which even some women are now following as the road to 'equality'. It is a disaster that only half the human race is trained to care and the other half to believe it has 'more important things to do'. Instead, all of us, women and men, must make caring central.
