For its 18th annual Hampton Roads Real Estate Market Review and Forecast, Old Dominion University's E.V. Williams Center for Real Estate and Economic Development (CREED) is trying to keep up its momentum for the industry-wide event by utilizing a slightly new approach.

The event, set for Wednesday, March 13, at ODU's Ted Constant Convocation Center, is a comprehensive look at the real estate landscape in Hampton Roads, presented by experts with a comprehensive understanding of the complex commercial and residential real estate markets in the region. The market review plays a key role in the region, bringing together public, private and academic experts to examine market performance and trends affecting real estate and development activity in the region.

"The participants tell us how much they value the localized content and data they receive from the Hampton Roads Market Review and Forecast," said John Lombard, CREED director and chair of the Department of Urban Studies and Public Administration in ODU's College of Business and Public Administration. "But they also expressed a desire for the event to be more interactive and hands-on."

This year's event is being moved to the arena floor of the Constant Center, offering attendees' table seating and enhanced views of this year's production. It will also feature a moderator for the first time, Craig Cope of Liberty Property Trust. Cope will lead a question-and-answer session with the six expert presenters for the Market Review and Forecast, taking questions from the audience and via Twitter, @oducreed.

Six experts in the field will make presentations and answer audience and Twitter questions: Deborah Stearns, senior vice president of Harvey Lindsay Commercial Real Estate, will conduct the office market review; William Throne, first vice president of Cushman & Wakefield/Thalhimer, will provide the industrial review; Tony Beck, first vice president for Southern Virginia with First Potomac Realty Trust, will provide the real estate investment review; David Machupa, vice president with Cushman & Wakefield/Thalhimer, will provide the retail review; Dwight Dunton III, founder and president of Bonaventure Realty Group, LLC, will provide the multifamily review; and Van Rose, president of Rose & Womble Realty, New Homes Division, will provide the review of the residential market.

Every March for the past 17 years, the research of ODU academics and other market real estate experts has been featured in CREED's annual review. A publication will be handed out to each attendee at the event.

The 2013 CREED Hampton Roads Real Estate Market Review and Forecast will be held from 3-6:30 p.m. Online registration is available at www.hrmarketreview.com. For more information, contact Kyllie Brinkley Bullion at kbrinkle@odu.edu or 683-5352.
