COVID-19 Update on Spring 2021

Dear Colleague:

As we wrap up fall semester and get ready for winter break, I wanted to update you on our plans for spring.

Currently, the University's plan remains for spring semester to be conducted similarly to the fall term, with all the same safety and public health protocols. Classes are scheduled to start Jan. 19, on campus, online or hybrid.

Throughout the University's winter closure, University officials will continue to work with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Virginia Department of Health (VDH) and conduct daily monitoring of the latest COVID-19 developments and impacts on our region.

On Dec. 31, the Executive Policy Team will meet to discuss the latest developments. Keeping the best interest and safety of ODU's community in mind, we will communicate any updates to our campus community by early January.

The Division of Student Engagement and Enrollment Services (SEES) has communicated to students that telehealth and testing will continue to be available to them over the winter break. Students were also provided instructions for spring move-in, which begins Jan. 4.

Student athletes and teams will begin to compete starting in January, with our men's and women's basketball teams beginning their C-USA seasons Jan. 1 and 2 and volleyball's first match on Jan. 22. To monitor game status, sport reports and other ODU athletic information, please visit odusports.com.

Many campus eateries and restaurants on Monarch Way will remain open to the public for dining and takeout during winter break.

In the meantime, please continue to #ReignResponsibly by following the latest CDC guidance to keep yourselves and those around you safe; submitting your COVID-19 daily check-in; and monitoring your email and ODU's official social media channels for the latest information.

We hope you have a happy and safe holiday season!

Sincerely,

Giovanna
