After over 30 years in private practice the last 25 of which were focused on Higher Education, in 2015 Jean became the University Architect at Old Dominion University.
Jean has worked for firms in Atlanta, Boston, Worcester and Norfolk where she was a principal at a local firm. Her career spanned work on over 18 College campuses nationwide.
Jean’s projects range from an initial focus on biotechnology and research laboratories to student life. Projects included University Utah Student Housing/2002 Winter Olympics Athlete Village. She led the development of a Strategic Master Plan for Housing and Food Service at Michigan State University and was the project manager for EVMS’s new medical school and Vivarium renovation.
Jean has her Masters in Architecture degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology and she attended the Ecole de Beaux Arts in Paris.
Jean is a licensed architect in the State of Virginia, Is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the Association of University Architects. She is also a LEED AP (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and a certified as a Cal OES State of California Safety Assessment Program, able to assist local governments in safety evaluation of their built environment in the aftermath of a disaster.
