Royce D. Burnett, Ph.D., CPA, CMA is Director and Associate Professor of the School of Accountancy in the Strome College of Business at Old Dominion University. In the School, he holds the Accounting Alumni Professorship. Dr. Burnett earned his Ph.D. in Business with an emphasis in Accounting from Oklahoma State University (OSU) in 2003. Prior to coming to Old Dominion, Professor Burnett taught at the University of Miami (Florida) and Southern Illinois in Carbondale.

His work has been published in several top accounting research journals. In addition to research Professor Burnet is an accomplished instructor and has won numerous teaching awards at every institution of higher education he has been affiliated with.

Finally, Professor Burnett commands a deep level of real-world experience. Specifically, before pursuing his academic career he worked for over seventeen years in the business community where he held positions with Ernst and Young, PriceWaterhouse Coopers, Electronic Data Systems/General Motors, and BP/Amoco. During this time, he also established and ran a successful CPA practice focused on non-profit management. His professional designations include Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and Certified Global Management Accountant (CGMA)
