Compensatory Leave

Under certain conditions, classified employees may earn compensatory leave, which allows them to take time off from work with full pay.

Compensatory leave is authorized leave with pay for hours worked on a holiday, on a scheduled rest day, during a closing as an "designated" employee, or for hours of overtime worked.

  • Compensatory leave must be taken within 12 months from the date it was earned.
  • Some exempt classified employees may be eligible to receive compensatory leave for overtime compensation with approval from their Vice President.
  • This is only for for unusual circumstances or out of the ordinary work requirements.
  • There is no maximum accumulation of compensatory leave hours.
