Claire Cucchiari-Loring Music Scholarship Fund Benefit Concert Friday
February 06, 2014
The Old Dominion University Department of Music will hold the sixth installment of the "Her Melody Lingers On" concert Friday evening to benefit a scholarship program established in memory of Claire Cucchiari-Loring.
The Feb. 7 program will be held at 8 p.m. in the F. Ludwig Diehn Center for the Performing Arts on the main ODU campus.
Tickets for the performance are $10 for students or $15 for the general public and are available for purchase at the College of Arts and Letters ticket sales website. Doors open at 7:15 p.m.
This year's concert will focus on a range of vocal music featuring a collection of music department faculty and students that includes: Brian Nedvin with Andréa Marie Manaskie, Suzanne Oberdorfer, Marshall Severin, Stephen Coxe, Christian van Hoose and Mike Hall. The event will also include a silent auction and refreshments before the performance.
Cucchiari-Loring was a music student at ODU when she was killed by her estranged boyfriend in 2006. The annual concert honors her legacy and celebrates her talent as a young artist who was beloved by friends and family.
The annual scholarship is awarded to a member of the ODU Jazz Choir. The Jazz Choir, under the direction of Professor John Toomey, performs every semester in concert, including participation each spring in the Diehn Concert Series.
