Be a part of the 2015 Faculty Summer Institute on Teaching and Learning

ODU faculty members are invited to participate in the 17th anniversary of the annual Faculty Summer Institute, sponsored by the Center for Learning and Teaching (CLT).

This year's Institute, which will be held May 19-20 at the Ted Constant Convocation Center, is entitled "Make a Difference with Service-Learning." Faculty and community partners who participate in the Institute will have the opportunity to reflect on ways to learn, teach, inspire and connect with each other and the community at large.

Service-learning strengthens students by offering practical, hands-on use of classroom learning. It strengthens the University by making it more of a community partner. And it strengthens the community by tackling difficult problems with the enthusiasm of new volunteers.

Faculty members from ODU and from across Virginia are invited to join the faculty of the institute by leading a portion of the service-learning discussion: to exchange ideas, to discuss instructional innovations and to share knowledge and experience about tools and resources that will help to engage students in service-learning within their academic courses.

Faculty members may do so by leading or co-leading a workshop; presenting findings from a recent service-learning project; putting together a panel of faculty, students, and/or partners to describe a service-learning project; or presenting a poster that illustrates the project and its impact on both students and community.

Interested faculty may use this link to submit your proposal online now through March 2.

For additional information about the proposal process, please contact CLT at clt@odu.edu or 757-683-3172.
