ODU Mentoring Program Going Strong in Third Year

Thanks to the support of Old Dominion University faculty and administration, the Old Dominion University CORE2 (Committing Our Resources to Excellence through Equity) faculty diversity initiative is in its third year of activity.

Promoting formal mentorship relationships is a part of the CORE2 model for recruitment, retention and ensuring success of a diverse faculty.

Most recently, the Darden College of Education and the College of Health Sciences co-sponsored a CORE2 Speed Mentorship luncheon February 12th from noon to 2 p.m. This event was part of the CORE2 faculty diversity initiative and was coordinated by the College of Education Diversity Committee and College of Health Sciences CORE2 Faculty Diversity Taskforce.

Forty-four mentees and mentors attended the event.

During the session senior faculty members met with junior faculty members to explore mutual scholarship interests and the potential for a mentorship relationship. Jackie Stein from the ODU Office of Research presented information about the ODU Office of Research Junior Faculty Research Mentoring Program.

Inquires about the event and/or CORE2 may be directed to CORE2 Faculty Diversity Leaders Edward Neukrug at eneukrug@odu.edu) or Kimberly Adams Tufts at ktufts@odu.edu.
