University Faculty, Administration Awards Announced

Outstanding staff and administrators at Old Dominion University were honored May 5 at the annual Faculty Awards and Retirement Dinner.
During the dinner program, four faculty award winners were announced:
A. Rufus Tonelson Faculty Award - Sheri Colberg-Ochs, professor of human movement science;
Alumni Association New Faculty Award - Brett Bebber, assistant professor of history;
Faculty Research Achievement Award - Adolphus Hailstork, professor of music; and Debra Major, professor of psychology.
Other faculty honors for spring 2015, include:
Virginia Outstanding Faculty Award Nominees: Sheri Colberg-Ochs, human movement sciences; Annette Finley-Croswhite, history; John Ford, marketing and business; Richard Landers, psychology; Sylvain Marsillac, electrical and computer engineering; and Glen Sussman, political science and geography.
Virginia Outstanding Faculty Award Winner: Gail Dodge, physics.
University Professors: Annette Finley-Croswhite, history; Edwin Gomez, human movement sciences; Charles Hyde, physics; and Ling Li, information technology and decision sciences.
University Distinguished Teachers: Carla Harrell, communication and theatre arts; Aaron Karp, political science and geography; Randall Spurrier, accounting.
Teaching with Technology Awards: Helen Crompton, instructional technology; Vukica Jovanović, engineering technology.
Provost's Award for Leadership in International Education: Annette Finley-Croswhite, history.
Provost's Award for Outstanding Undergraduate Research Faculty Mentor: Debra Major, psychology.
Doctoral Mentoring Award Finalists: Dawn Rothe, sociology and criminal justice; Karen Sanzo, educational foundation and leadership; Dimitrie Popescu, electrical and computer engineering; Qi Harry Zhang, community and environmental health; Sebastian Kuhn, physics.
Doctoral Mentoring Award Winner: Mohammad Najand, finance.
Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant Awards: (classroom) Salim Chemlal, modeling and simulation engineering; (laboratory) Rachel Jastrebsky, ecological sciences.
Kate Broderick Award for Excellence in Inclusive Education: Anne Michalek, communication disorders and special education.
New Advisor of the Year Award: Adam Hanson, Strome College of Business
Advising Administrator of the Year Award: Joe Ritchie, advising and transfer programs
Faculty Advisor of the Year Award: Katherine Jackson, English
Excellence in Advising in the Primary Role Award: Tania Alvarez, advising and transfer programs.
J. Worth Pickering Administrator of the Year Award: Jenny Foss, student health services.
Association of University Administrators Monarch Professional Award: Arminda Israel, teacher education services.
