Old Dominion Second-Ranked for Best Vets Programs

Old Dominion University is ranked No. 2 for best veterans programs by the military/veteran advocacy organization CollegeRecon.com.
To compile its ratings, the organization analyzes 17 key benefits programs to assist veterans and military personnel.
Such metrics include providing a Monthly Housing Allowance; having a campus student veterans chapter and an ROTC unit; providing in-state tuition for active-duty personnel; signing onto the VA Principles of Excellence and Eight Keys to Veterans Success, and offering Military Tuition Assistance.
CollegeRecon.com reports that Old Dominion is one of only eight schools to participate in or provide all 17 of the key veterans' benefits categories.

Old Dominion also was recently included in Victory Media's "2016 Guide to Military Friendly Schools," published to help service members with their transition out of the military.
An independent advisory board of higher education and recruiting professionals rated Old Dominion highly across 10 categories, covering military support on campus and graduation and employment outcomes, as well as military spouse policies.

The Hampton Roads region boasts one of the heaviest concentrations of active-duty military households in the nation - about 23 percent of Old Dominion's student body is military-affiliated.
