ODU's 'Ted' Ranked as Top On-Campus, Mid-Sized Concert Facility

Old Dominion University's Ted Constant Convocation Center has been ranked the top mid-sized venue on a university campus in a mid-year report of 200 arenas.

The rankings, compiled by Pollstar Magazine, the only trade publication covering the worldwide concert industry, tally the tickets sold to all concerts at the facility. The Constant Center ranked 14th among all venues with fewer than 10,000 seats, with nearly 50,000 tickets sold between Jan. 1 and June 30. The world's top arena was the O2 Center in London, with 872,809 tickets sold.

The Constant Center was the only facility in Hampton Roads included in the Pollstar rankings.

"Spectra Venue Management (the arena operator) and the staff at the Constant Center are honored to be recognized as a premier mid-sized collegiate venue," said Mike Fryling, general manager for the Constant Center.

"We are incredibly proud of our staff's hard work and thankful for the continued support of our patrons in the community that make it possible to bring great entertainment to Old Dominion University and the region at large."

Faith Evans, Carl Thomas and Keke Wyatt performed at the Ted on Aug. 5. The fall lineup includes Sesame Street Live: Elmo Makes Music; comedian and ventriloquist Jeff Dunham, and legendary country singer Kenny Rogers.
