Ted Constant Center Climbs in Pollstar's Rankings of World’s Elite Venues

The Ted Constant Convocation Center at Old Dominion University was recently ranked by Pollstar Magazine as the No. 1 entertainment venue on a U.S. college campus among facilities with a seating capacity under 10,000. The influential publication's annual rankings also listed the Ted Constant Center as No. 17 worldwide and No. 5 in the United States among all venues in the same seating category.

The Ted ranked No. 167 in Pollstar's Top 200 Arenas Worldwide Chart, up 29 spots from 2015. It marked the third consecutive year that Old Dominion was featured in the year-end rankings.

Pollstar Magazine is the only trade publication covering the worldwide concert industry. The year-end report showcases the top tours, arenas and theaters in 2016. The rankings are based on worldwide ticket sales to concerts and traveling shows and exclude sales generated from ODU sporting events.

"We'd like to thank Old Dominion University as well as all of the promoters, agencies and artist management for continuing to bring shows to this great venue," said Spectra's Mike Fryling, general manager for the Ted Constant Center. Spectra by Comcast Spectacor provides venue management and ticketing and fan engagement for the Ted.

"This honor exemplifies the commitment our staff members are making in providing all of our guests a first-class entertainment experience during all events at the Ted," Fryling said.

During the 2016 season, the Ted attracted sellout crowds for The Price Is Right Live! and Grammy Award- winning recording artists Anthony Hamilton and Fantasia. The diverse lineup also included The 1975, Kenny Rogers, Lil Wayne, standup comedians Gabriel Iglesias and Jeff Dunham, as well as annual family touring events such as Sesame Street Live! and Disney Live!

The Ted will continue to thrill patrons in 2017. Upcoming acts include 11-time Grammy nominee Charlie Wilson, with special guests Fantasia and Johnny Gill, on Feb. 8: Green Day's "Revolution Radio Tour" on March 12; TobyMac's "Hits Deep Tour" on March 17; stand-up comedian Mike Epps with Bruce Bruce, Rickey Smiley and Felipe Esparza on April 8, and the Original Harlem Globetrotters on March 24 and 26. Tickets for these and all other events are available at YnotTix.com.
