National Transfer Student Week to be Held Oct. 9-13

As a leader in transitioning high quality community college students into the university system, Old Dominion is excited to celebrate the inaugural National Transfer Student Week, which is being held Oct. 9-13.

With more than 190 individual program pathway agreements within the Virginia Community College System, Old Dominion University is an innovator in creating pathways for transfer students and continues to be the number one institution receiving transfers from TCC and Thomas Nelson Community College,

ODU has more than 9,100 students Who entered the University as transfer students. More than 450 of ODU's newly enrolled transfer students annually qualify to be inducted in the National Honor Society for transfer students, Tau Sigma.

National Transfer Student Week was launched this year by the National Institute for the Study of Transfer Students and is intended to celebrate transfer students and the professionals who support them. As part of National Transfer Week, Old Dominion will be holding the 3rd annual Transfer Advising Day on Tuesday, Oct. 10 from 9a.m.-4p.m. at the student center on Tidewater Community College's Virginia Beach campus, rooms K320 and K304.

Students from across Hampton Roads are encouraged to attend to learn more about ODU. Representatives from each of the University's six academic colleges, admissions, regional higher educational centers and distance learning will meet with prospective students to offer personalized advising and support in preparation for a successful transition to ODU.
