December 15, 2017
Old Dominion President John R. Broderick was the featured subject in a Q&A interview with the Chronicle of Higher Education that delved into the leadership he has provided since launching the University's sea level rise initiative in 2008 - long before many institutions considered began to focus on the issue as a major concern.
The Washington D.C.-based Chronicle of Higher Education is the gold standard in news reporting regarding the nation's 4,700 colleges and universities.
The interview focused on President Broderick's leadership as the University has sought to create partnerships with the business community, government, the U.S. Navy and other groups to best prepare for the challenges presented by sea level rise.
President Broderick spoke about how Old Dominion is adapting to sea level rise and "and what challenges a college president faces in talking about the issue on a national level."
The Q&A article was presented as a companion to a broader multi-media article that featured videos, interactive maps and photographs in telling how Old Dominion, Nicholls State University, Florida International University and Point Loma Nazarene University has sought to address the challenges presented by sea level rise by building research and community partnerships, improving facilities and developing forward-thinking disaster plans.
