Visiting Theatre Production to Explore Persian Jewish Women's Experiences
February 15, 2017
Old Dominion University will host two performances of "Saffron & Rosewater," an original production exploring the experience of Persian Jewish women, on Feb. 26 and 27 at the Goode Theatre.
The performance explores the theme through the stories of a child fleeing Iran, an immigrant adapting to a new home, a college student wishing to move to a dorm but defying her traditional father, a writer making it in America and an immigrant celebrating Thanksgiving.
"Saffron & Rosewater" features works by Gina Nahai, Angella Nazarian, Farideh Goldin, Esther Amini and Dora Levy Mossanen.
The collaborative event is sponsored by the University's Institute for Jewish Studies and Interfaith Understanding, ODU Theatre/ODU Rep and the Jewish Women's Theatre of Los Angeles. It was produced and adapted by Ronda Spinak and directed by Eve Brandstein.
The performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Goode Theatre on Monarch Way. Tickets are $15 and may be purchased through ODUARTSTIX.com or by calling 757-683-53065.
