Pursuant to U.S. Code, Title 36, Subtitle I, Part A, Chapter 1 §144 that designates Sept. 11 as Patriot Day, Gov. Ralph Northam has ordered that the flags of the United States of America and the Commonwealth of Virginia are to be flown at half-staff on all local, state, and federal buildings and grounds in the Commonwealth of Virginia in respect and memory of the victims who died as a result of the terrorist attacks against the United States at the Pentagon, the World Trade Center, and in Shanksville, Pa., on Sept. 11, 2001.

The flags will be lowered at sunrise on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019, and remain at half-staff until sunset.
