It is official: ODU's ALA Student Chapter is now recognized by the American Library Association (ALA). ODU's chapter becomes the 67th ALA student chapter and the first student chapter formed in Virginia.

ALA student chapters provide educational, social enrichment, professional development and service opportunities on a local and national level. ALA supports student chapter membership by providing leadership and programming opportunities on each campus. Each student chapter is eligible to send one participant to the Student-to-Staff program held at the ALA Annual Conference where they receive free conference registration, housing, and a per diem for meal expenses.

ODU's ALA Student Chapter officers include Lisa Gay-Millken (President), Leah Melton (Vice-President) and Laura Shifflett (Secretary). Dr. Amelia Anderson serves as the faculty advisor.

If you are an ODU Library & Information Studies graduate student and interested in joining ODU's ALA Student Chapter, contact Dr. Amelia Anderson for more information.
