Please note that the commencement ceremony at Old Dominion University will have an impact on the surrounding community.

Dining and Shopping

Merchants and residents should be aware that many families choose to dine directly before or after the commencement ceremony. Larger crowds should be expected in restaurants and stores, particularly those along Hampton Boulevard and in the University Village.

Traffic Stops

Norfolk Police will stop all traffic on Hampton Boulevard between 49th Street and 43rd Street approximately 10 minutes before the official start time of the ceremony. This is to allow the processional to safely cross from Webb University Center to the Ted Constant Convocation Center. This traffic stop should last approximately 10 minutes.

Old Dominion University police will stop all traffic on 49th Street between lot 5 (Koch Hall) and Bluestone Avenue approximatey 15 minutes before the official start time of the ceremony. This is to allow the processional to safely exit Parking Garage "E."

You may wish to use Colley Avenue/Jamestown Crescent as an alternate route.

Traffic

Traffic around campus and the Constant Center will be congested for an hour leading up to and an hour after the ceremony. You may wish to use Colley Avenue/Jamestown Crescent as an alternate route.

Attendance

Anyone is welcome to attend the commencement ceremony, provided he/she has a ticket. Tickets are only distributed to qualifying graduating students. Please do not call Commencement Central to request tickets. We are unable to fulfill any such ticket requests
