  • KaaVonia Hinton is an associate professor in Educational Curriculum and Instruction at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. She is the author of Angela Johnson: Poetic Prose (Rowman & Littlefield, 2006) and co-author (with Gail K. Dickinson) of Integrating Multicultural Literature in Libraries and Classrooms in Secondary Schools (Linworth, 2007).

  • Research Interests

    Hinton-Johnson’s scholarship focuses on literacy materials created specifically for blacks; literature for adults, children and young adults, especially works labeled multicultural; critical biographies of black writers, and literary criticism.
