Whether you are passionate about a cause, looking to serve the community, or seeking job skills and experiences there are several ways to Engage ODU; ranging from one-time events to multi-year commitments. How much time are you looking to serve?

Long Term
- Connect local nonprofits with campus resources during a year as a Community Ambassador
- Apply to volunteer at the campus Women's Center
- Become a Recycling Ambassador (Short-term service also available)
- Commit to four years of personal growth through the Service Scholars program
Virtual
- Search the Catchafire database for virtual volunter projects
- Transcribe documents for Smithsonian
- Volunteer with the Zooniverse doing scientific research
- Missing Maps with Doctors Without Borders
Recognition
We believe in recognizing students for their contributions to creating a better world, whether that's in the classroom, through on-campus programming, or in the broader community. Track your hours in Helper Helper and be rewarded for your efforts!
Semester Raffle
The Office of Community Engagement rewards individuals and student organizations for logging their hours in Helper Helper. Log 10 hours individually or 25 as an organization by the end of each semester to automatically be entered in the raffle. Names will be pulled the Monday of exam week. Hours must be entered the Friday prior.

Service Awards
Kaufman Award
Up to 10 students will be selected for the Kaufman Award. The recipient of the Kaufman Award will be selected from this group and will receive $10,000. The runner-up will also receive a monetary award.
