WODU, Mace and Crown to Hold “Media Week” Events

WODU Studios and the Mace and Crown will host a variety of events to engage students with the media industry during their second annual ODU Media Week April 6-10.
The schedule includes keynote addresses by media professionals, and Mace and Crown alumni, James Burnett and Sarah Hill.
Burnett, a former newspaper reporter in Miami and Milwaukee, is the director of public relations and social media at the Boston Foundation. He will speak on his experience in print journalism at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 9 in the River Rooms at Webb University Center.
Hill, senior producer for WAVY's hrScene.com, will speak Friday, April 10 at noon in the Portsmouth Rooms at Webb Center. She will discuss the rise of citizen journalism. Hill's media career includes time with CNN, CNN International and the Weather Channel.
Other scheduled events:
Monday, April 6: Sports-media professionals will discuss with students how to break into sports media and pursue an on-air job. River Rooms, 7 p.m.
Tuesday, April 7: A job fair will be held from noon to 2 p.m. in the North Mall, of Webb Center, with Hampton Roads media companies. Information will be available on jobs and internships in print, broadcast and social media, as well as public relations.
Wednesday, April 8: Screening of "Page One: Inside the New York Times." Room 100, Oceanography building. 7 p.m.
Thursday, April 9: Networking lunch with alumni employed by The Virginian-Pilot. U-Center, Webb Center, 12:30-2 p.m.
