Dr. J. Worth Pickering is the Assistant Vice President for Assessment at Old Dominion University (ODU), where he has worked for more than 25 years. Prior to his appointment as AVP, he was the Director of Assessment and has also worked in Student Services Research and the Counseling Center as a career counselor. Worth has taught graduate courses in career development and student development as well as research and assessment at Old Dominion University. After earning a BA in psychology at Guilford College, Worth earned his M.Ed. and Ed.D. degrees in counseling from UNC-Greensboro with emphases in student development and career development, along with significant work in educational research. His primary research interests are in the areas of student success and student learning. In addition to his work at Old Dominion University, Worth regularly consults with other institutions, conducts workshops at national industry conferences (i.e., SACSCOC), and publishes in peer-reviewed scholarly literature.
