Dean's Welcome

At the Batten College, we provide experiences and support to empower students from all backgrounds to secure and thrive in rewarding careers in engineering and technology. Students work in a range of areas, such as building and testing autonomous vehicles, developing life-saving biomedical devices, planning coastal resilience strategies, researching human-robot interaction and building small satellites to be launched into space.

Departmental Highlights

Benjamin Belfore, a newly minted Ph.D. in electrical engineering, devised the world’s second-best spin polarized photocathode.

The Engineering and Technology faculty and staff of Old Dominion University cordially invite teachers, counselors, prospective students and parents to learn more about Old Dominion's engineering programs and facilities. Programs begin at 2 p.m. on the first Friday of every month, (with the exception of January and July) and last approximately 2 hours.

From initial enrollment to graduation, we support your success. With valuable resources such as in-depth new student orientation, academic advising, student-led research at our Enterprise Centers and industry partnerships, as well as a dedicated engineering student success team, your path to success is at your disposal.

The Batten College of Engineering and Technology at Old Dominion University is establishing an Early Career Alumni Council. This council will complement other advisory councils in the college whose members are typically more advanced in their careers. The perspective from professionals earlier in their career is valuable to college leadership as well as to current students.
