The Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity is thrilled to announce this year’s NEA Big Read at ODU, featuring Sitting Pretty: The View from My Ordinary Resilient Disabled Body by Rebekah Taussig. Our theme for 2024-25, “Health Equity: Where We Live, “dives into important conversations about accessible healthcare and the well-being of our communities.
We’re kicking off the CommUNITY Conversation series with Healing Through the Land, an event that will explore the deep connections between land stewardship, health equity, and the lived experiences of Virginia’s Indigenous citizens. In partnership with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, this discussion will highlight how the generations-old relationship Indigenous people have with the land shapes their health and well-being today.
Date: October 21st
Time: 6:00p
Location: Big Blue Room, Chartway Arena
This event is free and open to everyone! Register here by Thursday, October 17th to save your spot. The first 100 attendees will receive a free copy of Sitting Pretty!
Don’t miss the opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue and reflect on how we can collectively work toward a healthier, more equitable future.
