The 2022 Faculty Summer Conference on May 17 comes at a pivotal moment for Old Dominion University instructors.
The conference theme, "Reimagining the Student Learning Experience With Canvas," reflects what's happening at ODU: With Canvas now adopted as the University's official learning management system, hundreds of faculty members and adjuncts are preparing to start teaching with it in the summer and fall.
"This year's Faculty Summer Conference is an ideal way for instructors to immerse themselves in Canvas on a single day of learning and sharing," said Chrysoula Malogianni, assistant director of the Center for Learning and Teaching, which is hosting the event.
The conference will be held online from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., along with bonus face-to-face workshops at Gornto Hall. Presenters, hosts and guests will explore how to use Canvas features to engage both traditional and online students. To register for the sessions and workshops, visit 2022 Faculty Summer Conference.
Attendees will learn to:
- Plan, organize, develop and deliver a student-centered learning experience
- Design effective and engaging learning activities, assignments and assessments
- Use communication, feedback, collaboration and reporting tools
- Foster faculty presence, availability and responsiveness
Used at Yale, Stanford, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and many other institutions, Canvas has won praise for its intuitive interface and for robust resources that can enrich student learning.
