To kick off Black History Month on Feb. 1, ODU’s Office of Intercultural Relations and ODU Athletics hosted “Curators of Change,” a panel discussion on African American culture within the sports world. Participants at the event in the Big Blue Room at the Ted Constant Convocation Center included Antoine Bethea, former NFL player from Newport News; Demel Bolden, student-athlete welfare marketing coordinator at ODU; men’s basketball player Imo Essien; Bruce Stewart, deputy athletic director and chief operating officer of ODU Athletics; and Dominick Fink, former NFL cheerleader and current coach of the ODU Dynasty Dance team.
