March 21, 2025 Posting
Old Dominion University will host a Public Forum with members of the Board of Visitors on Thursday, April 10, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Board Room of the Broderick Dining Commons on the main campus in Norfolk, Virginia. The agenda is attached.
In accordance with Section 23.1-307 of the Code of Virginia and Board Policy 1106, Public Comment on Undergraduate Tuition and Mandatory Fee Increases, Old Dominion University will be requesting Board of Visitors' consideration of a tuition and mandatory fees increase for undergraduate students, both in-state and out-of-state, ranging between 0 to 6.99 percent, effective Fall 2025 and Fall 2026. The proposed range for the increase is reflective of Old Dominion University's long-standing commitment to both accessibility and affordability. Due to this continued commitment and overall focus, Old Dominion University is the most affordable public research institution in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Any additional tuition and fee revenue will be utilized to retain and attract faculty; invest in STEM-H degree production, maintain facility operations, enhance technology infrastructure; further strategic initiatives; and provide funding for other items, such as state mandated compensation increases and Board-approved capital investments.
Individuals will have an opportunity to comment following the administration's presentation on the proposed tuition and fees. Those wishing to comment during this session must register in advance with Mary Jo Karlis, Director of Board Relations and Executive Operations, no later than 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2025. Requests must be made in writing via email (mkarlis@odu.edu) and will be accepted on a first-come, first served basis. Registered speakers will have up to three minutes to speak, and comment must be limited to the topic of undergraduate tuition and mandatory fee increases. The public comment session will be limited to 60 minutes or less if those wishing to comment have had an opportunity to do so.
The Board of Visitors will vote on the 2025-2026 tuition and fee proposal at its meeting on Friday, April 25, 2025.
