CyberSecurity_LLC 2020

Explore cybersecurity concepts in and out of the classroom! Students interested in the growing career field of cybersecurity should consider this community. This community is located in Owens House.

Requirements to Join the Community

  • Transfer students in these majors are also eligible for a select number of spaces.
  • Will need to enroll in specific shared sections of CYSE 100: Cyber Explorers & University Orientation, CYSE 200T: Cybersecurity, Technology, and Society, and CRJS 215S: Introduction to Criminology, if applicable.

FoundationHouse_LLC 2020

Foundation House is a unique, cooperative living option for nine academically talented female Virginia residents. Applicants must demonstrate high academic promise and financial need. Qualified residents receive a room scholarship which pays for most costs associated with the occupancy, maintenance, and operation of the Foundation House. Residents are responsible for the cost of the meal plan and a small semester room fee. Preferential consideration is given to College of Sciences/Engineering majors. This community is located in Foundation House.

Requirements to Join the Community

  • Selection of Preferred Majors (Not Required to Apply): Computer Science, Math, Physics, or any Batten College of Engineering & Technology major; Sophomores and Above; High Financial Need; 3.0 GPA of higher (at application and maintained throughout); VA Residency.

  • Transfer and upperclass students in Game Studies are also eligible for a select number of spaces in the community.
  • Will need to enroll in a specific shared sections of GAME 201T; Introduction to Game Studies and COMM 272G: Digital Literacy if applicable.

  • Any student interested in public and community service
  • Educational and social events are provided for students throughout the year and participating students will choose from various experiences to fulfill requirements of living in the community

NOTE: This community does not assign rooms based on sex/gender assigned at birth/gender marker. By agreeing to live in this community, you agree to potentially be assigned a room with students of a different birth gender.

Requirements to Join the Community

  • Students who have not completed ENGL 112L: Introduction to Literature will be required to enroll in a shared section of ENGL 112L if applicable
  • Returning students to the community are required to maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA
  • Educational and social events are provided for students throughout the year and participating students will choose from various experiences to fulfill requirements of living in the community
