Ayse Ozturk is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education in the Department of Teaching and Learning at Old Dominion University. Her research focuses on learning and teaching mathematics as a humanizing practice. She is interested in building teacher candidates’ capacity to transfer their passion and knowledge to students in meaningful ways. To make mathematics more relevant and accessible, she has focused on designing and teaching equitable mathematics curricula through enacting mathematical modeling, which involves using mathematics and personal experience to inform decisions about the real-world situations.
