Dr. Cynthia L. Tomovic is an accomplished leader, administrator, and professor in higher education, and organizational development. Currently, she is Professor and Director, Training Specialist Program in the Department of STEM Education and Professional Studies at Old Dominion University, serving approximately 150 undergraduates and graduate students annually, in Norfolk, VA. She was the inaugural Director of ODU’s Building Leaders to Advance Science and Technology (BLAST) Program, a summer residential STEM Education Program, serving between 90-180 students which was designed to increase STEM interests among Virginia’s diverse high school population. Previously, at Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, she earned her academic ranks and was Chair, Department of Organizational Leadership which was comprised of 12 locations through Statewide Technology with approximately 60 faculty and adjuncts serving 1,000 undergraduates and graduates annually. She also served as Assistant to Dean for Distance Education, College of Technology. She is a committed and award-winning teacher of undergraduate and graduate students. She has published and presented over 100 articles and book chapters and has participated in over $4M grants and contracts related to organizational leadership and development; product lifecycle management (PLM) metrics used to drive manufacturing productivity improvements; and attracting and retaining students in STEM education. She has consulted and delivered training to IBM, Boeing, State Farm Insurance, TRW, Motorola Inc., Delco Electronics, etc. She has reviewed for professional journals, national funding agencies, and served as an evaluator of leadership development programs for college accrediting agencies and collegiate STEM education programs.
