Dr. Veleka S. Gatling, serves as the AVP for Diversity and Inclusive Excellence and Assistant Professor at Old Dominion University. She has taught graduate courses related to professional learning, instructional supervision and school community relations in the Ed. Leadership Program. She provides opportunities for educators and community members to achieve excellence in their fields of expertise, while promoting visible equity. Dr. Gatling has served as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, executive director of special and gifted programs. She is the past Region 2 Rep for Virginia Association of Curriculum and Development (VASCD). She is currently serving on the state board of Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities. She received her undergraduate degree in Public Relations and Early Childhood Education from James Madison University. She earned a M.S Ed from Old Dominion University in Educational Leadership and a Ph.D from Virginia Tech in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies.
