Dean Jane Bray sent the following message to the Darden College of Education faculty and staff community on February 8, 2018. - Ed.
Dear Colleagues,
I want to share exciting news with you about Dr. Helen Crompton, Assistant Professor of Instructional Technology in the Department of Teaching & Learning. Dr. Crompton was selected as one of 12 recipients of the Outstanding Faculty Awards presented by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia and Dominion Resources.
The Outstanding Faculty Awards recognize superior accomplishments in teaching, research and public service at Virginia's institutions of higher learning. It is the state's highest award for faculty. Nominees are selected by the institutions, reviewed by a panel of peers and chosen by a committee of leaders from the public and private sectors. In all, 83 nominations were received this year. This group was narrowed to a field of 27 finalists and then to the 12 recipients.
Dr. Crompton, who has taught in the Darden College of Education since 2013, is recognized as an international expert in mobile learning. In her four years as a member of the faculty at Old Dominion University, Dr. Crompton has established an outstanding record of accomplishments in each of the areas of discovery, teaching, knowledge integration and service. The Office of Strategic Communications & Marketing has written a full article on Dr. Crompton and the award, which can be viewed online.
A ceremony honoring the recipients will be held March 1 at The Jefferson Hotel in Richmond. Each recipient will receive an engraved award and $5,000 underwritten by the Dominion Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Dominion Resources.
My warmest congratulations go to Dr. Crompton for this considerable accomplishment as a researcher and teacher in the Darden College of Education. Congratulations Dr. Crompton!
Sincerely,
Dr. Jane S. Bray
