Excite the Dream ODU is a program designed for underrepresented scholars with a dream of pursuing a career in academia. This program provides an opportunity for underrepresented scholars to gain more insight into the professoriate by inviting them to participate in a virtual one-day experience designed to cultivate skills in teaching, research, and service. Scholars will have the opportunity to:
- Learn about ODU
- Present their research
- Receive scholarly advice from our award-winning faculty
- Meet with Leadership

Program Highlights
How do I qualify?
- Be completing a terminal degree by September 2025.
- Be a member of an underrepresented population.
- Have an interest in academia.
- Submit a completed application by August 19, 2024, including a cover letter, research statement, teaching philosophy and statement of interest.
Selected qualified candidates will participate in a program designed to excite their dream of becoming a scholar in academia.
